An attractive mould-made terracotta figurine depicting probably the goddess Isis standing frontally, draped in a long garment, leaning against a pillar that supports a swaddled infant probably meant to be identified as Harpocrates even though without the iconic finger in his mouth.

Such figures were widely used in domestic cult practice and as votive offerings.

Terracottas like this one were normally painted, even when traces are no longer obvious.
Comparable examples are in the collections of the British Museum, the Louvre, and the Graeco-Roman Museum in Alexandria.

A good size at 228mm.

Repaired at mid -point and a few small consolidated crackon left shoulder.

Mid–late 2nd century into the 3rd century CE,

From my own collection. Acquired C J Martin 1993.
