Egyptian steatite scarab - royal sphinx
The figure here is a reclining  royal sphinx meant to represent the king.
Above him are the hierioglyphs spelling out 'neter neb tawy'
This means 'God, Lord of the Two Lands' This title , 'Lord of the Two Lands'
was a common epithet used in royal titulary and emphasized the pharaoh's authority over the entire land; both Upper and Lower Egypt. In front of the sphinx is an oddly upside down ankh sign betokening "life".
16mm long.
The scarab's back has, as you can see from the photos been damaged.
Probably Late Period circa 500 BC
