Here is a piece of very ancient pottery which I really find very intriguing. I have never seen the like before. It is an example of a type of pottery beaker found at the Southern Mound at the site of Tepe Sialk in north central Iran. It appeas to show hanging storage sacks of some sort. The arched motifs are probably arched storage niches in a domestic dwelling. Quite delicate pottery fabric. 80m high : 86m across the rim Intact but for chips on the rim. Umber paited decoration rather faded in parts. Tepe Sialk, Third Period, circa 4000 BC - 3500 BC. Ex collection G Dibley, Australia.
