Rare type of Early Bronze Age IVB terracotta beaker/cup

This type of pottery is fairly rare on the market and when it appears it is usually incorrectly described as you can see in the last pic here.

In a quite delicate buff coloured fabric, with simple horizontal decoration which is very characteristic of the type.
Tapers to ring foot.
150mm high, 95mm across the rim
Intact

From my own collection. Acquired C J Martin 1994
Similar one, though more bulbous, sold at Bonham's. 1996 but with incorrect attribution.

This type of pottery dates very specifically to the Early Bronze Age IVB which is approximately 2300 BC–2000 BC) in Syria
This marks the final phase of the Early Syrian period, characterized by the transition between the collapse of large EB IVA city-states (like the city of Eblay at  Tell Mardikh ) and the rise of Amorite dynasties in the Middle Bronze Age

What is is particularly interesting is that this piece was said to have been found in Israel and if that is so shows either a trade connection with North western Syria (unsurprising) or is a personal import in ancient times.
