Specialist scarab collectors will note that the back of this scarab is unusual.
That's because it is not Egyptian, but Phoenician.
The delicate gold mounting, the remnants of a swivel ring, is also  typically Phoenician.
The way it is mounted however suggests it wasn't actually iused for sealing purposes.
The underside is cut with a figure of a sqatting Amun behind whom a protective Ureaus holding a branch, all upon a Neb sign.
The scarab appears to be slightly chipped and indeed that may be one reason it was put into a frame.
