ALSO PLEASE NOTE
There are hardly any items for sale beyond page 29 on the gallery here.
I have left so many sold items on show (and in the sold archive) as many collectors have said they find such photos and information useful to have.

An interesting, quite rare very small Middle Kingdom scarab.. These are referred to as 'rdi ra' type scarabs, of course named for the three signs on them. They are always very small, around 6.5mm - 8mm. The possible meaning of the inscription remains unclear: they could be interpreted as forming the name Re, or as a phrase or wish meaning (may) Re give. This trigram motif is first seen in the late Middle Kingdom on these exceptionally small examples made in steatite but during the Second Intermediate Period slightly larger examples, generally made of crude faience, are seen and these have different details on the back and sides. Daphna Ben-Tor noted that this type of scarab is completely absent in the Palestinian serie but has suggested that this type might have been the prototype for the Palastinian anra type scarabs. Intact. 8mm These are considered to be Middle Kingdom, late Dynasty 12th to 13th , circa 1850 BC - 1640 B.C Ref: cf. Metropolitan Museum Accession Number: 09.180.1053 |
