This rather mournful looking fellow is a Roman bronze chariot fitting which was found in Germany.

It is from a ceremonial rather than racing chariot and it is quite heavy.

In fine metal with a nice deep green patina.

Hole on one side where the side tie has broken off from as you can see.

5 inches high. 

2nd, possibly 3rd century.

This is from my own collection.

Acquired froma UK dealer in the early 90's
