This is an extremely fine lime stone mould for a most unusual lamp.

The motif is essentialy the Chi Rho, but the central part is of course a cross.

Totally intact and the very fine incised design is wonderfuly preserved.

200mm x 150mm. The lamp size is 150mm x 90mm.

Roman North Africa, circa 5th century.
