YOU ARE HERE: REAL or FAKE>>Fake foundation cones, page 3
A "new" version.
Nonsense "cuneiform".
More utter nonsense. And more...... The seller writes:
I presume he means Nebuchadnezzar II. (Can't even copy the text accurately!)
Problem is that foundation cones were used from the time of Enannatum of Lagash (circa 2400 BC) only until the time of Samsuiluna of Babylon circa 1680 BC.. Nebushadnezzar II was some 1000 year later! (even Nebuchadnezzar I was some 500 year later)
Sadigh Gallery has acquired a collection of ancient cuneiform clay cones dating from 2,000 - 1,000 BC each with its own translation. These cones are made of terra cotta and stand from 4 to 6 inches tall. Each one is mounted on a custom made
Amazing! This fake is slightly better done. But nonsense all the same. And this perhaps even more convincing if one is not familiar with cuneiform. But very definitely a fake. More fake cuneform foundation cones>>>>> |
