Dangerous fake.

If it turns up elsewhere you could fall for it.

Only little mistakes, a bit to tall, too flat on the topof the head (the dent), but great shape from the side (only the top is a bit too heavy for the tiny legs). On some places the gesso is missing beneath the wig. But imho great fake considering all other trash she/he is selling.

Thanks for this, Dik.  I find it extremely useful to have my attention drawn to good fakes and their minor deficiencies.  Does the back look right?

Thanks again

From Dik

The back is beautiful as far for the wig, nice NK. It is big, long and well shaped. You see this kind of wig mostly depicted on faience pieces.

  • The bottom has the right size and shape and is in the right place.
  • The wearing of the wood is very convincing and very well done. Mostly high water pressure can do the job, but in this case even gesso (paint?) is still attached.
  • The wood looks dry and light and aged. High tech here...
  • The back is also great, only the shape of the lower parts of the legs is too slim.

John noticed that one he was interested in suddenly appeared on another seller's listings!

On eBay at the same time, from egyptianseller and from egyptianworld

Though egyptianseller responded thus....

At last, here are the photo's of the Faux Ushabtis purchased on EBay

I've figured  with help of your site and thefakebusters that they are all very much false representations. Now in the process of getting my money refunded with only one out of three responding with a full refund at this time.

Live and let learn I guess.

John agrees that we show them here.

Might be recognised by the owners of duplicates.

Rather prettier than the standard eBay fare!
