UPDATE:

Thanks to Andrew for sending this photo of the above shabti of Huy offered for sale again.

There has been since the publication of these articles, some debate about whether some of the shabtis discussed are inedeed fakes or not.

An update:

This is an important update from Dik on the Minerva articles.

Unfortunately the published articles have serious flaws and can't be used for judging NK fakes.

The mistakes in the articles are:
The omission of two glazing techniques that were known to the writers.

The false comparison between a Late Period fragment and a New Kingdom fragment shown on photos.
The assertion that a 'seshed' headband is present on the B1 Heri (Hori).
The assertion that it is incorrect to have a shabti with daily dress (C1 Huy) carry two hoes.
The statement that no lead can be present in faience up to the 22nd Dynasty.
The firm conclusion that all TL tests indicated that the shabtis are of recent date.

The fact that a lot of New Kingdom shabtis had appeared out of the blue was obviously suspicious.

When, moreover, a number of these turned out to be forgeries, all alarm bells started to ring.

The idea that all NK shabtis that had appeared during the latter part of the 90s were fake, seemed a natural conclusion, but has turned out to be incorrect and poorly substantiated.

Some examples in the Louvre.

So the question might arise.......................?
