8.41/2 (N) A nice Old Babylonian haematite cylinder with a scene which is a bit different from the run of the mill presentation scenes!
20mm x 11mm
9/4. (N) A really extremely attractive, very small haematite cylinder seal. Only 14mm x 7mm. Is it Syrian?
From Olaf 11th December 09
You are asking "is it Syrian ?" It is ! See examples in the Louvre from the same group (No. 10 and 11) Note the positioning of the arms of the "Gilgamesh" (11) figures and the marching "Egyptians" (10) all typical First Syrian Group, c. 1800-1700 B.C.
